For the Honorary Eleatic

You enter the conference room and see an old man sorting through a box of things. The room is fairly large and cluttered; clearly the exhibit is not ready for public viewing yet. All the same, you hope to hear something interesting from the man.

After a short while, the man notices you and walks over to introduce himself...

Hello and welcome to the most insightful and relevant exhibit in this temple! At least, I hope it will be once it is completed. My boast is just my attempt at humour. Perhaps by aiming for greatness I can ensure that something passable is achieved, at the very least.

Anyway, as you can see the place is still a bit of a mess. I was invited to continue my studies our sense of time. It's apparently a contentious topic at the temple, especially given everyone's understanding of Being as all there at once, complete and whole. For my part, I believe there is an ancient philosopher who answered these concerns - Diodorus Cronus. A man largely forgotten, robbed of his proper title. In crafting this exhibit, I will raise him up and honour him as an official Eleatic philosopher.

My immediate goal is to set up four separate rooms, one dealing with the indivisibility of time, one with the necessity of all possibilities, one with the Master Argument, and a final room taking these Eleatic contributions and weaving them into the Whole. It is in that final room that Diodorus Cronus will finally take his place in a Neo-Eleatic account of reality.

Yet for all those words, there's little to show you today. Perhaps you would like me to speak further about these topics, though? Otherwise, I can also direct you to our more general exhibits on Change, which immediately follow on from the exhibits on Distinction...

You consider what the man has said, before...

Choices:

  1. Ask about the indivisibility of time...
  2. Ask about the necessity of possibility...
  3. Ask about the Master Argument...
  4. Thank the professor for his time and move on to the general exhibits...
